Round Up of New Homes in Ayrshire

May 9 2012

Ayrshire has always been popular with homebuyers and with the recently completed M77 road link significantly reducing the commute to Glasgow, this shows little sign of changing.  House hunters looking to find a property in the west of Scotland won’t be disappointed by the selection of new homes on offer in the area.

Among the current choice of new-build properties for sale in Ayrshire is Barratt Homes‘ Grangewood development in Kilwinning.  First-time buyers, growing families and downsizers are all catered for in this collection of two- and three-bedroom houses and four-bedroom townhouses.  Each home has a contemporary design and prices range from £155,995 for a three-bedroom end terrace property to £176,995 for a four-bedroom townhouse with breakfasting kitchen and a garage.  Families will be pleased to find a good choice of both primary and secondary schools nearby.

Situated around 15 miles east of Ayr, Cherrytrees in Cumnock is a Stewart Milne Homes development with a luxurious character.  Boasting an excellent specification, this development of four- and five-bedroom homes is sure to impress.  Two house types are currently available at Cherrytrees, including the four-bedroom ‘Thorntonhall’, which is priced from £249,995 and features a separate lounge and formal dining room as well as an open plan kitchen/family/dining area with French doors leading to the rear garden.  Two en-suite bedrooms and a ‘bonus room’ which would make a great den or playroom make this perfect for family life.

Buyers on a tighter budget will appreciate the range of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes priced from £96,995 to £204,995 at The Ivy in Kilmarnock.  Properties at the Persimmon Homes development include the ‘Stronnach’ apartment, a stylish home that has a lounge with bay window, separate kitchen, two bedrooms and bathroom, with private parking included. At the other end of the scale, the ‘Wexford’ is a four-bedroom detached house with dining room, study and a master bedroom with en suite and fitted wardrobes.

Ladykirk Place is a David Wilson Homes development in Monkton on the outskirts of Prestwick.  Six different styles of three-, four- and five-bedroom properties are still available here with prices starting from £156,995 for a three-bedroom semi-detached home.  The house builder’s usual high standard specification can be seen throughout the development and in features such as a private garage, en-suites and gardens.  The tranquil countryside setting provides a rural feel despite the proximity of these new homes in Scotland to Prestwick and the amenities the town has to offer.

Time Capsule Buried at Athena Grange New Homes Scheme in Prestonpans

July 12 2011

The launch of the latest and final phase of properties at Stewart Milne HomesAthena Grange development in East Lothian has been marked by pupils from Prestonpans Primary School  burying a time capsule at the site. The hope is that future generations will be able to enjoy a unique glimpse into today’s lifestyle and events of the past year, thanks to the efforts of the local 11- and 12-year-olds.

Athena Grange from Stewart Milne Homes

The final phase at Stewart Milne Homes' Athena Grange development features a range of 3-bed homes priced from £168,500

“As we are now on the final phase of development at Athena Grange, we approached Prestonpans Primary School with the idea of a time capsule to tie-in with the opening of the new play park,” said Alex Goodfellow, managing director of Stewart Milne Homes Central Scotland. “We have been very impressed with the pupils’ enthusiasm for the initiative and are extremely pleased to be part of such a significant project for the Prestonpans community.”

“We were delighted when the opportunity arose with Stewart Milne Homes,” said class teacher Martin Whitfield. “Athena Grange is a significant development within the Prestonpans community, and presented the perfect partner for the project. The pupils have really enjoyed the process and are very excited by the idea of their time capsule and personal memories being discovered in the future.”

Among the events of the past 12 months commemorated in the time capsule are the royal wedding and last winter’s snowfall, which led to the closure of the school for the first time in living memory. Pupils also buried contemporary objects and images, such as a specially commissioned piece by local author Annmarie Allan and pictures of iconic products such as Irn-Bru and the iPod.

Athena Grange is located just 15 minutes from the centre of Edinburgh, close to the banks of the Firth of Forth. The final phase of homes features a choice of four different three-bedroom home styles, priced from just £168,500. The properties feature spacious living areas, downstairs cloakrooms, separate utility rooms, French doors to the gardens and fitted wardrobes in the bedrooms.

Prestonpans is ideal for family homebuyers hoping to find a property where they can bring up children away from the inner city but within easy reach of the amenities at the centre of the Capital. There’s a regular commuter rail service into Edinburgh from the local rail station. Athena Grange has a play area in the centre of the development and a communal green, where the time capsule is buried. It’s not far to go to find good local schools catering for all ages.

There’s a show home to view at the Athena Grange development, open from 10.30am to 5.30pm, Thursday to Monday.

New Properties on the Market in Scotland’s University Cities

June 13 2011

With summer having (supposedly) made an appearance, many of Scotland’s teenagers will be dreaming about heading off to university for the first time or leaving halls of residence to find their own pad.  The thought of finding a quality home to rent can be daunting but, in recent years, a trend has begun to emerge whereby parents decide to find a property to invest in for their child to live in during their university career.

Vision from Stewart Milne Homes

Prices start at £162,995 for a high-specification 2-bed apartment at Stewart Milne Homes' Vision scheme in Aberdeen

Not only could this save money by lowering monthly outgoings paid for rent, but it could also earn parents a bit extra cash by renting out a second bedroom to a flat mate.  In the long term, rising house prices may result in the property being sold on at a profit when the student graduates and moves on.

The benefits of buying new-build homes are many, but perhaps one of the best for a parent is that everything is brand new so there will be no calls home demanding cash for the expensive repair bills that can come with an older property.  There are lots of new-build homes in Scotland‘s university cities that would be ideal for student life and that won’t break the bank of mum and dad.

The Vision development by Stewart Milne Homes is situated near the Mugiemoss area of Aberdeen and offers two apartment styles that are perfect for those starting out.  Both the ‘Pirie’ and the ‘Spence’ have two bedrooms and are priced from £162,995. Each apartment has a kitchen/breakfast room with built-in appliances (so there will be no need to bring washing home at the weekend!), bedrooms with fitted wardrobes, door-entry system and plenty of storage.

CALA Homes‘ Grovewood Hill development in Edinburgh offers a choice of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments priced from £165,000. The apartments are situated in the west of the city and boast a high internal specification that includes Siemens kitchen appliances and bathroom tiling from Porcelanosa. The open-plan design gives a contemporary feel while the separate utility room and fitted wardrobes to the bedrooms offer plenty of storage space.

Gainsborough Court from Mactaggart & Mickel

Buyers have a great choice of property types at Gainsborough Court in Glasgow from Mactaggart & Mickel

With its Kelvindale postcode, Mactaggart & Mickel‘s Gainsborough Court development is conveniently located for students attending any of Glasgow’s three universities. Sixty-two properties priced from £234,495 make up the development, which has a number of homes to suit students including two- and three-bedroom apartments; two-, three- and four-bedroom duplex apartments, and four-bedroom townhouses. The properties all feature roomy lounges, en-suite facilities to the master bedroom and fitted wardrobes in the bedrooms.

Taylor Wimpey‘s Stirling Bridge development has been designed with first time buyers in mind.  Prices start at just £85,000 and the starter homes include a collection of one- and two-bedroom apartments as well as two- and three-bedroom semi-detached homes.

A new development in Dundee is currently on the market through Thornton’s Property Services.  McVicars Lane on the city’s Perth Road is well placed for reaching either of Dundee’s two university campuses and features two- and three-bedroom apartments priced from £174,950 as well as boasting a selection of luxury penthouses.

Hopefield View from Stewart Milne Homes

There's a range of home types available at Hopefield View in Bonnyrigg from £205,000

The promotion has been inspired by the popularity of the company’s show homes. Those taking advantage of the offer will be able to recreate the professional look in their own homes. House hunters in the region can visit the show homes at Stewart Milne Homes’ new-build property developments in Scotland from 10.30am to 5.30pm or at any other time, by special arrangement.

“New homes provide a great blank canvas for buyers to make their own,”says Marlyn Boal, sales director for Stewart Milne Homes Central Scotland. “However, when it comes to it, many of us could use a little help to get the creative juices flowing and achieve the look we’re after. This package is designed to do just that.

“Having one space styled by an expert will undoubtedly inspire ideas for the rest of the home, while providing handy tips on how to make the most of each brand new space.
