Taylor Wimpey Launches Final Phase at Ferry Village

May 30 2011

The launch of the final phase of apartments at Taylor Wimpey‘s Ferry Village near Braehead was done in style last weekend.  The development of new homes in Scotland saw Renfrewshire’s Lord Provost Celia Lawson plant a commemorative tree as visitors enjoyed a tipple of champagne to mark the occasion. A new show home was also unveiled (open from 11am till 5.30pm on Saturdays and Sundays) and an astounding three apartments were reserved during the first weekend of release.

Ferry Village from Taylor Wimpey

Three apartments were snapped up at the opening weekend of the final phase of homes at Taylor Wimpey's Ferry Village

Audrey Ross, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland said: “We’re honoured that Provost Lawson could join us today to help mark the final piece in the jigsaw for Taylor Wimpey. The tree-lined boulevards are a key feature within the development, and at the initial launch of the development around ten years ago, a tree was also planted so it’s fitting that Provost Lawson marks the final phase in the same way.”

She continued: “Following our previous developments at Ferry Village, we’re confident that the overall area of Ferry Village in Renfrew is now firmly established as a great place to live. The area is increasing in popularity and these apartments are an attractive option for first-time buyers and investors looking to maximise the increasing interest in this area of Renfrew. Buyers will also have the benefit from having a long lead time to save for their dream property, because the first projected move-in dates are not until January/February 2012, therefore giving buyers the chance to save further and plan ahead for their move.”

The newly launched phase of Ferry Village comprises just 49 one-, two- and three-bedroom properties, and judging by the success story so far, interested house hunters should act quickly to snap one up. While the area is within easy reach of Glasgow city centre, residents can still reap the relaxing benefits of a tranquil location at Renfrew Riverside. Well established public transport links and easy access to the motorway make the daily commute relatively painless, while the Braehead Arena, shopping centre and Xscape centre are located nearby and provide excellent leisure facilities for all interests.

Prices at Ferry Village start at £94,995, or £76,708 when taking advantage of the company’s shared equity scheme, and the new homes are bursting with features including allocated parking spaces, fitted wardrobes and French doors.

Redrow Puts Show Home Up For Sale

March 31 2011

Although one of the benefits of new-build properties is that they are already tastefully decorated when you move in, many buyers still wish to put their own stamp on their new home, and every home needs furniture. Home buyers searching for new homes in Glasgow and the surrounding area may be interested to know that Redrow Homes has recently put its four-bedroom ‘Forth’ show home at its Riverside Point development to the west of the city o the market.

Riverside Point from Redrow

The 'Forth' 4-bed show home is now up for sale at Redrow's Riverside Point for £219,000

The show home has been fitted out and decorated by a team of professional interior designers, meaning you’ll be desperate to invite guests to see your new pad as soon has you’ve moved in. Situated in Braehead, the home is priced at £219,000, which includes the carpets, curtains, light fittings and landscaped gardens.  There is even the added possibility of purchasing the furniture as well, which might be especially interesting to first time buyers or investors looking to rent out a fully furnished home.

“Show homes not only showcase the quality of our properties and the layout of the designs, but also provide interior design inspiration for homeowners,” says Mary McHutchison, sales manager for Redrow Homes (Scotland). “Many people try to replicate the looks created by our stylists but whoever buys the ‘Forth’ at Riverside Point will get the show home look without the effort.”

Spread over three storeys, the ‘Forth’ house type is a family home to be proud of. The ground floor comprises a bedroom/study, utility room and shower room. An open-plan kitchen and dining area with a separate lounge make up the first floor, while a family bathroom and three further bedrooms, including the master bedroom with en-suite facilities, are on the top floor.

The show home is by no means the only property for sale at Riverside Point.  Those looking for a different style of home or who relish the thought of brandishing a paintbrush and picking their own colours won’t be disappointed by the range of other properties available at the development, including two- and three-bedroom apartments, two-bedroom houses and some four-bedroom homes. Redrow’s standard high-specification interiors feature on every home, with stylish kitchens boasting brand-name appliances and sleek floor-to-ceiling units and delightful bathrooms and en-suite rooms.

The ‘Forth’ show home at Riverside Point is open to view from 10am to 5.30pm daily, so potential buyers have a chance to see exactly what they’re getting for their money.

Retirement Properties Gain Popularity

March 7 2011

While they are popular in countries such as North America and Australia, purpose-built retirement villages are a relatively recent concept in Scotland’s housing market. By combining the opportunity to continue living independently with the reassurance of  care being there if needed, properties designed specifically for retired people offer them many benefits.

There are a few factors that people should consider when buying a new retirement property, not least the level of care they are looking for and the facilities available for use on and near the development. There’s a great selection of new-build retirement property developments available in Scotland at the moment that will suit a variety of interests.

Many of these communities are set in landscaped grounds, letting residents enjoy a pleasant and tranquil setting without having to worry about doing their own gardening, while others are positioned close to a golf course or offer easy access to a major town or city for residents who like to get out and about.

Auchlochan Garden Village from MHA Care Group

There are 50 acres of grounds at Auchlochan Garden Village in South Lanarkshire, where a 1-bed apartment starts at £95,000

The finishing touches built in to new-build retirement properties are designed to make life a little easier.  Features to look for include electrical sockets placed higher on the walls for ease of access, easy-grip lever taps in kitchens and bathrooms and automatic lighting. For buyers hoping to find a property to downsize to in their later years, a purpose-built retirement property could be the ideal move.

A selection of apartments and bungalows is available to buy at MHA Care Group’s Auchlochan Garden Village. The community is set within 50 acres of grounds in South Lanarkshire and amenities include a coffee shop, library, hair-dressing salon and guest facilities for visitors. A team based on-site ensures that care can be provided quickly when needed but also allows residents to live as independently as they like. Prices at Auchlochan Garden Village start at £95,000 for a one-bedroom apartment.

Further west, in Ferry Village at Braehead, the Kingsferry Court development by McCarthy & Stone offers a selection of 57 one- and two-bedroom homes with prices starting at £119,950. Integrated kitchen appliances are included in the specification and peace of mind comes with the 24-hour emergency call system in place. In the local area you’ll find a large shopping centre as well as the Renfrew Golf Club and Clyde View Park. Glasgow city centre is easily accessible via frequent bus services.

Rosemount Golf Retirement Village from Argus Care Group

Two cottages remain for sale at Rosemount Golf Retirement Village, priced from £255,000

Argus Care Group has recently opened the Rosemount Golf Retirement Village in Blairgowrie.  The development features five ‘close care’ cottages, two of which are still available to purchase. These cottages are fitted with the latest technology, which means, for example, that the bathroom light will automatically come on and off during he night when you get out of bed and snuggle back under the duvet. Prices here start from £255,000. The two-bedroom properties also include a private parking space and a garden. As you might expect from a village built on Golf Course Road, you don’t have far to go to enjoy the fairways of the renowned local golf club.

Situated in the small village of Barbaraville on the north side of the Cromarty Firth, Highland Park Village is a development of homes designed especially to suit over-55s. With 47 two-bedroom detached bungalows and three waterside one-bedroom apartments in addition to a local shop, clubhouse and landscaped grounds, the village really is a complete little community. Properties at the Highland Park Village development are priced from £135,000.

New Homes in Scotland for under £100,000

February 9 2011

First-time buyers, or those on a limited budget, might think that their chances of being able to afford a new-build home in Scotland are pretty slim. Obviously, if you have aspirations of living in a large mansion complete with indoor swimming pool and gold-plated bathroom then you may need a huge windfall, but those starting out on the property ladder will find a number of  developments offering new-build homes for under £100,000. Moreover, there are no ties to a shared equity arrangement, part-buy/part-rent deal or any other initiative usually associated with affordable new homes. They’re not all one-bedroom cubby holes either!

Ainslie Square from Bellway Homes

A 2-bed apartment at Bellway Homes' Ainslie Square scheme costs from £95,995

Perfect for professional couples, Bellway Homes’ Ainslie Square development in Renfrew is only ten miles away from Glasgow and has gyms, fitness centres, restaurants and the Braehead shopping centre nearby. Prices start at £95,995 for a two-bedroom apartment with an open-plan living and dining area, open-plan kitchen and a bathroom. Similar apartments with a feature balcony are also available from £99,995.

Persimmon Homes’ Ailsa Gardens development is located in Stevenston, a small town in Ayrshire, and features a collection of two-bedroom cottage apartments. The properties are full of character and feature a good-sized living room, joint kitchen/dining area and an en-suite facility to the master bedroom. Prices range from £89,995 to £94,995.

Linenmill Court from Dawn Homes

Prices start at £89,995 at Dawn Homes' Linenmill Court in Johnstone

Located in Johnstone, Dawn Homes’ Linenmill Court has seven different apartment types on offer with prices starting at £89,995.  Many apartments at the development, which occupies the site of the old Barbush Linen Mill on the town’s High Street, boast views of the river and internal features include an open-plan living/dining/kitchen area, fitted wardrobes and en-suite facilities.

Drumbow Homes’ Birren Park scheme is situated on the edge of Ecclefechan near Lockerbie. The charming village is perfect for commuters with good bus and rail links in place as well as easy access to the M74 motorway. The development centres around two cul de sacs with range of homes available, including one-bedroom starter apartments priced from £70,000.

Offering one- and two-bedroom apartments as well as two- and three-bedroom semi-detached homes, Taylor Wimpey’s Stirling Bridge development is designed specifically to appeal to first time buyers. The Clifton apartment comprises an impressive lounge/dining room, kitchen, bedroom with fitted wardrobes, bathroom and communal garden and is priced from £85,000.
